History, Significance and Inspirational Quotes

History of National Youth Day In 1984, the Government of India decided to celebrate Swami Vivekananda's birthday as National Youth Day to inspire, enlighten and empower the youth of the nation. Vivekananda is an inspiration to countless young people in India and around the world. He was born on 12 January 1863 in Kolkata. He explosively supported the Education and Death Commission. He believed that man can truly find religion and God only through selflessness and service to the lesser humanity. Being a follower of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, he helped to increase the knowledge of youth all over the country through his lectures. Vivekananda was also known worldwide for his infamous speech at the World Parliament of Persuasion in Chicago in 1893, still known today as "Sisters and Sisters of America". In fact, Vivekananda's training is recorded in several books and the significance and theme of the widely popular National Youth Day is celebrated on this day, with festivals organized in the countries of India, each with a different theme from the previous one. For example, on this day, Uttar Pradesh hosts a two-day program called "Mission Bharatiyam" and "Basti U Mahotsav" to inspire the youth with the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Also, some associations celebrate National Youth Day by hosting prayers, spiritual programs, meditation sessions and other conditioning. National Youth Forums are also organized in actual clubs and educational institutions. Several clubs also organize blood donation camps on the occasion of the special day. Meanwhile, a book containing the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, called "The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda" is read in several corridors of India. The theme of National Youth Day 2023 is yet to be decided. The theme for National Youth Day is usually chosen by the government to encourage youth to take action in areas such as social service, education and environmental protection. Earlier, the themes were "Youth for Clean and Green Environment," "Youth for Rural Development," and "Youth for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship."
